Troubleshooting Your Virtual Private Network VPN Doctor VPN Guide

The following is a troubleshooting guide for a particular topic.
(1) Virtual network connection

(2) VPN tracking error message

(3) VPN Modem Troubleshooting Guide

(4) VPN-ISP Troubleshooting Guide.
(1) Virtual private network connection

If you can’t connect to the internet at home, try the following steps before seeking help.

Do you have an IP address? Try ipconfig / all. If you do not have an IP address, restart your computer. If that doesn’t work, turn on your cable / DSL modem and router, and when your network device is up and running, restart your computer. Make sure all network cables are connected properly.

2.. After restarting your computer, make sure the network adapter is active and packets are flowing. ipconfig / Check everything again.

3. Ping various internet sites to verify connectivity. If this doesn’t work, dial the return address 127.0.0.1. If it fails, the adapter may not be working or may not be configured correctly. Check the IP address. Type ipconfig / all at the command prompt (see figure). The IP address and multiple DNS server addresses are displayed. The Domain Name System (DNS) is a method of detecting Internet domain names and converting them into IP addresses, which are required to browse the Internet.

Ping 127.0.0.1-Loopback test (see figure). Loop tests are used to see if the IP stack is responsive. If you get the timing or receive an error, you may run into problems if one or more of the following conditions are true:

* TCP driver is corrupted

* Network adapter is not working

* Another service blocks IP

Check the network adapter, click the Start menu, click Settings, Control Panel, and select Network Connection. Double-click whether you want to use a local connection or a wireless adapter. Make sure you are connected. If you have other network cards, turn off the unused card.

The package should appear on the sent and received counters. If the Receipts counter is 0, make sure the adapter has an IP address. Select Properties.

Click on the box with the View icon and let us know below. A dual computer icon appears in the lower right corner of the tray taskbar and flashes while sending or receiving packages. Hover your mouse over the icon to see its status and click to see more details. Tracert displays the connection path to the destination and the number of hops. Each hop is a move from one router to another. Tracert is a useful tool for understanding where problems occur on your network and determining delays between hops.

Ping is used to determine if a host exists and is active on the network and can determine the tour time to the device. If you know, you can enter the host name or IP address. If the request is interrupted, the host cannot be reached because the host is offline or there is a connection problem. Try multiple websites. If nothing works, dial the return address 127.0.0.1. If DNS is not working or is not configured correctly, you can only ping the host using the IP address and you will not be able to browse the Internet.

If you encounter intermittent issues, ping -t for 5-6 minutes, then press CTRL C to check the test results and see if you are dropping network packets (lost packets). .. If so, it usually indicates an ISP problem or a cable / DSL modem problem. See VPNISP Troubleshooting Guide

(2) VPN tracking error message

Error message Q1: The remote host is not responding: or the IP address of the remote server could not be resolved

Cause: This indicates that the ContivityVPN switch did not respond to the connection attempt. The problem may be with the Contivity switch itself (the switch may be off), or the computer may have a problem resolving the IP address.
Action: Try pinging the destination name (eg VPN.something.com). If you receive a “Request Timed Out” ping command message from your ping command, contact your ISP to verify that DNS is working properly.
